Based in Galveston, Texas, Matcha Universe X HEAL YEAHH is driven to boost your body, enlighten your mind and uplift your soul. They talk to HAZZE MEDIA about creating a safe space for every individual who walks through their door, finding peace, and positively impacting peoples' lives.

Check out the interview below...

What inspired you to start your shop?

When I was going through hard times I wanted an outlet. Somewhere to go to get out of the house (that wasn't a club) and a place that would aid in bringing me happiness. At the time, the only place I was able to hang was a coffee shop, and the only place I was able to buy sage was Indian Reservation Along the west coast. There was not a place I could enjoy tea, burn sage, and be surrounded by uplifting colors and cool books so I invented it.

What is the best part about the platform and community you created?

The best part about HEAL YEAHH x Matcha Universe platform is we know of no strangers. Heal Yeahh is a safe haven for those from all walks of life- to enjoy things that are good for your body, mind, and soul. No matter what or who you believe in, you will walk in feeling right at home.

What is your ultimate goal?

My ultimate goal at HEAL YEAHH is to help others release stress, stay healthy, and find peace within themselves through our offerings. Healthy doesn't have to always be nasty, and incense and candles don't have to always be witchy.

How will you continue to grow your platform and business?

I will continue to grow HEAL YEAHH and our community by building relationships, being more active in the community, and active on social media for those that are not from Galveston, Island - as well.

Was there ever a time you wanted to give up on your shop/how did you overcome this?

The building has been ours since November of 2020. This was right in the midst of essential stores being allowed to be open, so it was a scary time. I was asking for signs, wondering if it was a test, figuring out if I was going to quit my job or work part-time with help, I was all over the place. Then finally I decided to have faith in myself, my talents, and my work ethic and put all bets on me! Boom! Heal Yeahh was official March 2021.

What is some advice you’d give to other aspiring small business owners?

Don't start or open a business based on trends, start one that you will be happy with even if no one you knew supported you.

Who has been your biggest inspiration throughout this time?

My grandmother was about 14 when one day her life changed forever, she woke up after playing in rainwater, unable to walk. She had to use braces, get laughed at, and learn to do something that she accomplished as a young child- walking. Looking at her, talking to her, and watching her daily reminds me to believe in myself and find strength... even when others may doubt me. Overcoming polio wasn't easy then or now. She is one of the strongest people I've met in my life. She still manages to watch over those who should be watching over her. She's my reason.

Are there any upcoming projects you’d like to share with us?

Yes! I am hosting The Business Social Event of the Year- The Work and Win Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 23rd. FREE TICKETS! Filled with vendors, great shopping, networking and photo opportunities, and more! This event is great for small businesses to get known in their industry, and also great for those that are interested in business to learn more! No business? No worry! The hand-selected vendors and their unique products will make your time well worth it!

What has been the hardest part about building your business?

Being everywhere and doing everything at one time. I had to learn to delegate things that did not cause me to handle them, to free up time for me to focus on things that were detrimental for me to attend to. Finding people you can trust to work with and for you in a business, is harder than winning a lotto it seemed

What is your favorite memory you have made throughout this process?

Oh geesh. The best part about Heal Yeahh so far has been when I am actually working the store and hear people say (on the way out) that this is the best store they have been in, this is the coolest store, or even this store made them feel at peace and happy. It's a great feeling to know that I am able to positively impact people's lives and help make even a fraction of their stress away. It makes all the hard work behind the scenes worth it.
