DAYGLOW: Playing Bonnaroo, Success of "Can I Call You Tonight?" & New Single "Then It All Goes Away”

Interview & Photos by: Orchee Sorker | July 4, 2022

How are you doing? Is this your first time at Bonnaroo?

It is my very first time. I'm so excited to be here. I've only heard good things.

How did you get started with music?

I just started working in GarageBand when I was like 10 years old. I just got obsessed with it. Ever since then, I've just been making music every day. So the exact same process I did then, I just make music in my bedroom.

Congrats on the viral song “Can I Call You Tonight?”! What was the story & creative process behind the song? What was your initial reaction when the song was blowing up? Were there certain aspects to promote the song on TikTok or was it purely a surprise?

It's been a long time and the song continues to grow, which is so cool. I don't know. I didn't have anybody pushing it…like a label or something. I was literally just alone in my bedroom. I made the song completely by myself and it was really encouraging to watch something like that gain traction. It gave me the confidence to keep doing what I want to do. I was 17 and I didn't really know anything about the music industry. Thankfully because sometimes it's good to not know how things work. Then, you find a new way to make something work. I made a stupid music video with a friend using a green screen and that helped the song. Yeah, but I don't know. It's been a crazy trip.

What are you planning on releasing next? When can fans expect new music?

Right now, I'm working on releasing an album called People In Motion. That'll be out this year. The first song “Then It All Goes Away” came out June 22. 'm really excited about it. It's like a brand new chapter for me. I'm really excited to share this music. It’s fresh and really fun. I think it's good timing all around. So, I'm excited!
