First PWHL All-Star Set For Toronto March 7, 2027

After a record-breaking 2025-2026 season for the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) viewership, the league has added four new teams for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. The first-ever independently hosted PWHL All-Star Game is officially on the schedule, too.

Bringing their biggest names together in Toronto on March 7th, 2027, Scotiabank Arena will be home to this inaugural event.

The PWHL announced this groundbreaking event today, Sept. 24, 2026, and wrote, “PWHL All-Star presented by Scotiabank on Sunday, March 7, will feature four teams of PWHL All-Stars competing in a 3-on-3, round-robin format: PWHL Canada, PWHL International, PWHL USA, and PWHL Rookies.”

Jayna Hefford, PWHL Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations said, “The PWHL was built to feature the best players in the world, and now fans will see the highest level of skill in women’s hockey showcased in a new and unique way.” Hefford continued to say,

“The 3-on-3 format creates an intense, fast-paced style of play, while the mix of teams will produce intriguing matchups and give both established stars and emerging talent the opportunity to shine. It’s only fitting that we return to Toronto — where the PWHL first dropped the puck — to bring the best of the best together for an unforgettable day for our fans and our league.”

This event not only marks the first All-Star that the league is hosting, but also shows the unprecedented growth of women’s sports that the PWHL has greatly contributed to. 

“From the beginning, our players have been at the center of the PWHL’s growth, and our first-ever All-Star gives us a new stage to celebrate them — and bring fans even closer to the personalities that make this league special,” said Amy Scheer, PWHL Executive Vice President of Business Operations.

“Bringing the best players in the world together at Scotiabank Arena, with Scripps Sports, TSN, and Radio-Canada showcasing the event to fans across Canada and the U.S., speaks to how far this league has come in three years. We can’t wait to return to Toronto, where our story began, and mark another important milestone in the evolution of the PWHL,” said Scheer.

“At the completion of the round robin, the second- and third-ranked teams will play in a semifinal game to determine who will face off against the first-ranked team in the PWHL All-Star Final. Each team will consist of a 10-player roster of six forwards, three defenders, and one goaltender. All-Star starters will be selected through a combination of fan, player, and media voting, while the reserve players will be selected by league hockey operations,” wrote the PWHL. 

Continuing the league’s history with the city of Toronto, this event can be added to the league’s list of firsts that happened in the city. “PWHL All-Star presented by Scotiabank will mark the league’s first independently hosted All-Star event and another milestone in the PWHL’s history in Toronto. The league officially dropped the puck on Jan. 1, 2024, when Toronto hosted New York in the first game in PWHL history at Mattamy Athletic Centre.”

As fans eagerly await the sale of tickets for this historic event, the PWHL season will commence with its Preseason Scrimmages on Nov. 22-30.
