The Hershey Bears handed the Providence Bruins their first loss of the season with a 2–0 win Saturday night at Amica Mutual Pavilion. Ryan Chesley opened the scoring on the power play, and Matt Strome added an empty-netter late in the third.

Providence generated steady pressure and 25 shots on goal, but Garin Bjorklund turned aside each one for the shutout, while Louie Belpedio recorded two assists for Hershey.
