Mac DeMarco performed his first of two sold out shows in Austin on May 16,2026 at Moody Theater. The last time he was in Austin was almost 7 years ago in 2019 with the crowd clearly communicating this through their apparent buzz of excitement before even getting into the venue.

As Tex Crick wrapped up their opening set, Mac DeMarco stepped onto stage with his reflective work pants and red skate shoes starting off with the opening track “Shining” from his latest studio album, Guitar. The crowd's slow rhythmic swaying was immediately yanked away from them with the blasting, angelic retro-synth chords of “For the First Time” setting the pace for the rest of the show.
Mac proceeded on with songs across his whole career as a musician albeit laughing and mumbling to himself as he switched between songs alongside doing some microphone throws and laying on the floor.
Alternating between songs from Guitar and This Old Dog with some of his older hits thrown in, with the concert coming to an end he played fan favorites of “Freaking out the Neighborhood” and finishing the set out with “Chamber of Reflection”.
Mac will go on to play one more show in Austin and then proceed up to Dallas and OKC.
