Midwest Takes the Spotlight as AHL All-Star Classic Comes to Rockford

ROCKFORD, IL- The Midwest is getting ready to host the American Hockey League All-Star game. An event that hasn’t been held in a Midwest city in over twenty years. The event will be played at the BMO Center in Rockford, Illinois at the home of the Rockford Icehogs, from February 10th to 11th. There will be several busy days, filled with skills competitions, community engagement, and an awards ceremony. Additional roster information can be found here.
How to Watch:
The event will be streamed live on FloHockey for the entire duration of the event, along with NHL Network in the US and TSN in Canada.
Skills Competition:
The events will start with a skills competition on February 10th. Fans will get to see some of their favorite players compete in events such as puck control, fastest skater, hardest shot, and accuracy, among others. All players across the AHL and their divisions will be participating. More information can be found here, along with a roster of participating players.
AHL All-Star Challenge:
The All-Star Challenge will take place on February 11th, teams are playing in a round-robin style tournament and will feature four teams, 3-on-3. There will be six games in total, each lasting eight minutes. Teams with the best record will then face off for the final championship round, in a final eight-minute, 3-on-3 game.
Community Engagement and Awards Ceremony:
Events will wrap up with a Hall of Fame Induction and awards ceremony and with players getting out in the community. First, the AHL Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony will be on February 11th, at 11 am at the Coronado Theatre. Fans can learn more about this ceremony. Community events include the Rinkside Block Party.
