APPLY NOW Writing Editor | Editorial Team Position Overview We are looking for editors who are interested in helping our team develop and edit writing outlines by journalists. As an editor, your job will be to provide feedback on drafts, article outlines, submission pitches, and help develop a narrative tone for our journalists. Details Type : Unpaid, for college/internship credit OR experience Schedule : Flexible based on your schedule; no set hours except for team meetings. Weekend work will be based on meeting deadlines and breaking news articles. Location : Hybrid (We are based in the Dallas-Ft Worth Area but all work is remote) Duration : Rolling Eligibility : Applicants must be able to earn academic credit or seeking professional experience Application Materials : Resume Portfolio (link or PDF; may include school projects or personal work) Responsibilities/What You'll Do Review drafts with a reader’s perspective, making sure the piece has a clear purpose, audience, and message Improve clarity and flow by reorganizing sections, rewriting awkward sentences, and tightening wordy passages Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage errors, maintaining consistency within AP style guide Fact‑check names, dates, data, and links to ensure accuracy and avoid legal or credibility issues Give feedback to writers (comments, edit letters, meetings) and guide revisions over one or more rounds Types of editing: developmental, line/copy, proofreading for articles Qualifications Must be eligible for academic credit, seeking hands-on professional experience, OR early-professional pursuing Rhetoric, Communications, PR, English, or a related field (must be eligible or need for internship or college credit) Strong understanding of AP style writing Creative mindset with strong written and verbal communication skills.
