Although Nashville isn’t predominantly known for it’s pop music, it definitely has its fair share of pop enthusiasts. Bridgestone Arena was packed with excited fans ready to enjoy the excellent performance that was soon to come from both Sam Smith and his opener Jessie Reyez.
Jessie kicked off the night, with her song “MOOD" and stopped to have a conversation with fans introducing herself. With a sense of sassy humor she said to the crowd, “If you don’t know me, we’re gonna treat this set like a first date okay?” Before even finishing the thought she went on to say, “What do people even say on a first date?”, and then went on to play the rest of her set. Jessie made her set unique by introducing unique runs to her songs, getting on her knees to sing, and stopping in between songs to break down tea with the audience. Needless to say, Jessie brought her heart and soul to this show, and did not disappoint.
After a brief thirty minute intermission, a lady in gold made her way out to the stage to reveal the focal point prop of Sam’s set before they elegantly kicked the show off with, “Stay With Me”. Throughout the duration of their performance, they made fans feel at home by waving at them, and taking moments to thank them for being a “repeat tour welcomed by Nashville”. Fans were head over heels to experience the variety of backup dancers, elegant fashion, and the unique stage setup which featured a rotating light truss and giant golden body throughout the duration of the show.
Needless to say, overall, what made this particular show stand out was the use of unique fashion, production, choreography, and vocal performance. For anyone considering seeing Sam and Jessie on this tour we would highly recommend you do so.
